Singtel app to drive revenue and optimize Capex with Analysys Mason

Communication towersDataSpark, Singtel’s data analytics subsidiary, in association with consulting firm Analysys Mason is developing a network planning application to assist global mobile operators to drive revenue and optimise capital expenditure (Capex).

The mobile app assists telecom operators globally to allocate capacity leveraging Dataspark’s Network CAPEX Optimizer platform to analyse datasets including customer satisfaction scores, potential demand as well as network traffic and yield.

Using the new app, mobile operators can select the best location for cellular sites or upgrade existing network infrastructure using insights from the data.

Ying Shao Wei, chief operating officer of DataSpark, said: “It could be a game-changer for telcos in that it can help them build their networks more efficiently and enhance their customer engagement.”

Telecom service providers will be able to make informed decisions based on the mobile app’s recommendations.

Singtel said a Southeast Asian telecoms has conducted trials on the mobile app achieving 11 percent increase on the carrier’s Return on Investment compared to current approaches which only takes into account traffic.

Bram Moerman, chief executive officer of Analysys Mason, said: “With Capex optimisation as a first use case we are confident that our approach lends itself equally well to revenue enhancement opportunities, as well as tackling next generation 5G deployment strategies.”

DataSpark and Analysys Mason are also working with mobile operators in the Asia Pacific region to support the development of analytics capabilities for objective decision making. The app will have new capabilities to help carriers plan fixed wireless access deployment, fibre-to-the-home roll-out and 5G deployment.

Singtel said that the mobile will also have additional features to assist telcos to identify new data monetisation opportunities in sectors such as transportation, advertising and smart urban planning.
