ZTE releases compact OTN product for telecoms

Telecom network vendor ZTE has released its compact packet optical transport network (OTN) product.

Launched at the WDM & Next-Generation Optical Networking Forum held in Nice, France, the ZXMP M721 CX66 is designed to ensure unified bearing of complicated network and services. ZTE said the release, which integrates ODUk, packet, and virtual circuit (VC) crossing in one, empowers telecom operators to undertake edge layer network construction.
ZTE strategy
With the global large-scale commercial deployment of LTE and the rapid development of over-the-top (OTT) services, flat network demands are forcing OTN bearer networks to evolve into unified bearing networks.

With a height of 6U, ZXMP M721 CX66 features the highest 840G crossing capacity in the telecom industry. The solution supports 2Mbit/s to 100Gbit/s any rate access, and can implement metro area core and backbone network end-to-end (E2E) unified crossing scheduling. It provides support for software defined networking (SDN).

Recently, Ovum noted that ZTE optical network product has secured the first place in the Asia Pacific region with a market share of 28 percent in 2014.
