Guyana Telephone taps Mahindra Comviva for mobile financial services

Telecom Lead Asia: Guyana Telephone & Telegraph (GT&T) has tapped Mahindra Comviva to offer mobile financial services.

Mahindra Comviva is offering its mobiquity mobile financial solution to enable GT&T to offer mWallet services in Guyana.

Mobile subscribers can now conduct transactions over the mobile, which include domestic and international P2P money transfer, prepaid top-up, utility bill payments and over the counter merchant payments.

Banked subscribers will be able to enjoy increased convenience and round-the-clock access to financial services from their mobile phone.

Under served and unbanked mobile phone users will be able to gain access to affordable formal financial services that have the power to improve their overall economic well-being.

Eshwar Thakurdin, managing director of GT&T’s, Mobile Money, Guyana, said: Domestic and international transfers can easily be carried out, which will promote financial inclusion in the country.”

Nearly 60 service providers and financial institutions have deployed Mahindra Comviva’s mobiquity mobile financial solution, enabling over 500 million end customers across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East to access mobile financial services.
