Skyworks drives GPS/GNSS solutions for Samsung

By
Telecom Lead Team:
Skyworks Solutions, a provider
of analog and mixed signal semiconductors, is building global positioning
system (GPS) and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) solutions for
Samsung Electronics.

The company’s
GPS/GNSS (SKY65702-11) solution is integrated with low-noise amplifier and
filtering designed for GPS and global navigation satellite system receiver
applications that provide high linearity, excellent gain, a high 1 dB input
compression point and a superior noise figure.

The integrated
GPS and GNSS filter provides low in-band insertion loss and excellent
out-of-band rejection performance for the cellular/LTE, personal communication
service and wireless local area network frequency bands.

The company’s
newest devices, which integrate a low-noise amplifier with filtering
specifically designed for GPS/GNSS receiver applications, deliver
industry-leading performance and are the smallest solutions in the market
requiring no external components, allowing manufacturers an easy plug and
play” option.

This is
an exciting new product area for Skyworks, particularly as navigation is
becoming one of the fastest growing consumer features for smart phones and
tablets,” said Liam K. Griffin, executive vice president and general manager of
high performance analog at Skyworks.

The company
said that it is delivering innovative solutions that help drive better
performance and reduce complexity for its customers, while at the same time
capturing additional RF content in high-growth markets.

A few months
back, Skyworks Solutions announced it is supporting ZTE’s next generation tablets and
laptops with EDGE and WCDMA/LTE front-end solutions.

Skyworks’
modules are powering data cards and USB modems to help deliver greater mobility
for tablet users that are equipped with cellular connectivity.
