XING and Samsung launch next generation of mobile networking

By
Telecom Lead Team:
XING has launched the latest version of its
XING Android app. XING now provides its members with the option to add contacts
using near field communication (NFC), a quick and secure standard used to
transfer data over short distances, making it ideal for people wanting to
connect at trade fairs.

The
latest version offers a new feature called Beam”, which can be activated when
two XING members call up their XING profile on their Android device and then
hold the two devices next to each other.

“We’re
really happy about launching the new Beam feature as it underlines the
importance and value of mobile devices here at XING. Right now about 20 percent
of our traffic comes from mobile devices and we’re working hard to make sure we
continue to offer our mobile users an enhanced networking experience,”
said Jorg Malang, VP Product at XING AG.

Samsung
is launching the new version of XING app on its latest Galaxy Nexus Smartphone,
which is the   first mobile device to run Android 4.0.

“The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first Android device to offer Android 4.0
(Ice Cream Sandwich) and NFC, making us a leader in the Android and NFC
markets,” said Mario Winter, head of Marketing for the TeleDivision at
Samsung Electronics.

The
new version of XING Beam is also available to any NFC-enabled smartphone
running Android 4.0.

Recently, Mobile service provider Sprint in U.S launched the Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus on
its 4G-LTE network as a part of its Network Vision plan.
