Comba Telecom delivers communications system for SMART Tunnel project in Malaysia

Telecom Lead Asia: Wireless solutions provider Comba
Telecom Systems has supplied a wireless communications system for Malaysia’s
Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART Tunnel).


SMART Tunnel is the world’s longest multi-purpose tunnel
at almost 10 kilometers. 


Comba provided multi-operator, multi-system 2G/3G
distributed antenna system (DAS) products and solutions.


Comba’s Malaysian subsidiary Comba Technologies is
providing maintenance services. The completion of this project has facilitated
ubiquitous wireless voice and data experience with seamless handover at high
speeds within the tunnel.


Comba’s DAS solution operates at the GSM900, GSM1800 and
UMTS frequencies used by Malaysia’s operators Digi, Celcom and Maxis in this
project.

service and support capabilities in addition to the effectiveness of our
solutions. In fact, Comba has a long history and accumulated experience in
wireless enhancement projects for transport infrastructure around the world
such as China’s Wuhan-Guangzhou and Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Rail Systems,
Rio de Janeiro Metro System in Brazil, Taiwan’s High Speed Rail and Singapore’s
underground Marina Coastal Expressway amongst many others,” said Eric Ng,
general manager of Comba’s operations in Southeast Asia.


Comba said the SMART Tunnel is a storm drainage and road
structure in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tunnel comprises of 9.7 kilometer of
stormwater bypass tunnel and a 4 kilometer double deck motorway.
