Telia reveals growth in revenue, increase in Opex and Capex

Telia has revealed the company’s main developments including growth in revenue, increase in Opex and Capex in the first quarter of 2019.

Telia reported revenue of SEK 20.847 billion (+5 percent), Adjusted EBITDA of SEK 7.468 billion (+15 percent) with adjusted EBITDA margin of 35.8 percent (32.7).

The number of subscriptions increased from 23 million at the end of the first quarter of 2018 to 23.7 million.

Telia said it’s on track to achieve 2 percent reduction in operational expenses in 2019. Opex of Telia increased 1 percent during the first quarter of 2019. Adjusted operating income fell 2.8 percent to SEK 3.486 billion.

Telia’s Capex excluding fees for licenses, spectrum and right-of-use assets reached SEK 3.11 billion in Q1 2019 as compared with SEK 2.785 billion in Q1 2018. Telia’s Capex was SEK 14.984 billion in 2018.

Telia’s Sweden business Capex spending grew 4.7 percent to SEK 987 million. Telia’s Sweden business lost 25,000 mobile subscriptions, driven by a loss of 44,000 prepaid subscriptions. TV subscriptions fell by 2,000 and fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 3,000 in the quarter.

Telia’s Finland business Capex spending rose 4.1 percent to SEK 330 million. Telia’s Finland business lost 46,000 mobile subscriptions. TV subscriptions grew by 15,000 and fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 6,000 in the quarter.

Telia’s Norway business Capex spending grew 94.2 percent to SEK 559 million. Telia’s Norway business added 2,000 mobile subscriptions following the addition of 12,000 post-paid subscriptions. TV subscriptions fell by 2,000 and fixed broadband subscriptions fell by 1,000 in the quarter.

Telia’s Denmark business Capex spending grew 12.2 percent to SEK 101 million. Telia’s Denmark business lost 5,000 mobile subscriptions. TV subscriptions remained unchanged and fixed broadband subscriptions fell by 5,000 in the quarter.

Telia’s Lithuania business Capex grew 32 percent to SEK 153 million. Telia’s Lithuania business lost 111,000 mobile subscriptions driven by a clean-out of around 110,000 inactive post-paid subscriptions. TV subscriptions fell by 8,000 and fixed broadband subscriptions grew by 1,000 in the quarter.

Telia’s Estonia business Capex grew 35.4 percent to SEK 92 million. Telia’s Estonia business added 17,000 mobile subscriptions. TV subscriptions increased by 2,000 and fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 1,000 in the quarter.
